When we first moved to the United States, we had to find our bearings like anyone in our situation would. To provide for the family, my mother did live-in work and left us with family as she worked towards her career and family goals.
Once a month my mom would treat us to Chinese food, and we would order ½ chicken with pork fry rice and an egg roll and that meal would share for the three of us with leftovers. I do not know how because I have kids now who are younger than we were, and they EAT. 😉
Looking back, it reminds me of the parable of the two fish and five loaves of bread. It just kept multiplying. This is a great memory for me because over these meals we would discuss our goals for our life and family. And it was at these meals I learn to be content with where I am as I work towards where I wanted to go. Because as my mom always say, “little is much when God is in it”.
